Welcome to the Launch

August 21, 2010

Welcome to Captain Jim’s Cove, a Voyager’s Home.

I want to share some of my thoughts and stories about experiences that have been meaningful to me, and about some of the more important things that seem to be going on in our lives and in the world.  And I want you to do the same.

This is a safe harbor, where I and my internet friends will share our  thoughts on the many voyages in life, including the big one that  marks our passage through this world.

Though still in development, I’m launching the blog today, only hours after a vague plan intersected with a friend’s prodding to produce the name of the blog.

Things aren’t quite shipshape yet, but I thought it was better to get going.  As a former president of the supreme court of a country in Central America  used to tell me, “Los cargos se ajustan en el camino.”

I can roughly translate that from the original image of a horseman adjusting his saddlebags once he was riding away, to something like we’ll get things a bit more shipshape once the voyage is underway.

More content will follow, both from me and from you.

Welcome aboard,

Captain Jim
